Beast Wars Bat Optimus Primal

Ah Beast wars, after the decline in popularity that the latter half of G1 and the whole G2 caused Hasbro and Takara needed something fresh to garner new attention, they did that by putting the recently acquired Kenner on the job. They then made the Transformers: Beast Wars toy line.
The earlier years of Beast wars had some weird inclusions, one of which was the Megatron and Optimus Primal 2-pack. Now this isn't the BW Optimus and Megatron you're probably thinking of, two smaller toys were released featuring Megatron as a crocodile and Optimus Primal as a Bat.
Today we're just focusing on the Optimus Primal toy.
Optimus looks great and is far less clunky than other Beast wars toys released around the same time as him
Optimus in robot mode doesn't have that much detail to speak of, same with the paint.
He looks fine, but compared to other figures of the time, including the Megatron he came packaged with, he looks plain
Same goes with his head sculpt, don't get me wrong, I think it looks great, but I can look so much better if they just added more detail.
The yellow eyes does give it some bonus points though.
But what he lacks in detail he makes up for it in posability. Unlike most other larger Beast wars toys, this guy poses excellently. The only real problems I have with it is how back heavy it is and having no ankle pivot.
You may have noticed that one of his swords doesn't look quite right, that's because it's 3d printed! When I bought this guy he was missing one of his swords, and instead of shelling out ridiculous prices for an original, I just made a new one, click here if you need a replacement too.
Primal's transformation is extremely simple, it actually does most of it itself. You pull on his tail and you're practically done!
This is where all the details went! It looks great! ...unless you look under it
But besides that, the texturing on his fur (do bats have fur?) looks great. Primals bat head looks cool and menacing, and it can even open its mouth.
He also has some really clever weapon storage with his swords becoming parts of the wings.
Speaking of the wings, on the back of them they have this gross vain detailing, I wonder why they included that.
Overall this Batman wannabe is great fun, even with how simple it is. If you think you'd enjoy him you should pick him up, he's fairly cheep on eBay too.
