In Transformers Energon a character who looked exactly like G1 Shockwave was introduced, albeit with a different color scheme, but he wasn't named Shockwave as hasbro lost the rights to the name, so instead they named him "Shockblast" and Shockblast was just the name they used for all Shockwave toys for a bit, including his Alternators toy, but when hasbro attained the rights again they had to make sure to keep it, and since no new Shockwaves were coming out, they slapped it onto a random Mini-Con.
Mini-Con Shockwave, packaged with Tankor, never appeared in the show, his only appearance being a very small role in the Cybertron comics, and the only characterization he ever received was on the box he came in.
The toy itself is pretty good for Mini-Con standards. As with most Mini-Cons released after Armada; Shockwave is a repaint, sharing his mold with 6 other Mini-Cons.
The detail put on this guy are pretty impressive given his size, his head is a particular highlight with those awesome red eyes of his.
Shockwave even has some molded hands, something a lot other Mini-Cons lack
This guy's posability is also above average sporting knees and ball jointed legs and arms, however his arms don't have a elbow bend though. With how small the feet are combined with all of the weight being on the top half of the figure makes it a pain to pose, it's still possible though.
Like all other Mini-Cons his transformation is extremely simple, just flip up the legs and fold down the backpack and you're done.
he transforms into this neat and tidy little stealth plane, the red lines throughout it really brings out the color.
Another really nice detail on this guy is this tiny landing gear
Shockwave also has a 3rd mode, just move is arms up and you're done.
This 3 clawed weapon mode can be plugged in via the Mini-Con ports on the larger figures to give them a firepower boost
Overall Mini-Con Shockwave is a fun little dude, but to be honest, I wouldn't care about this guy in the slightest if he didn't have the name he did, if you wanna pick this guy up he's very cheep, I got him new in box for only 21 bucks.
